Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
Just got out of detox, sober for 10 days now. I´m gonna try out the AA 12 steps way.

Planning to attend 1 meeting a day for the first month at least.

Anyone who have overcomed addiction what was it that helped you the most?

Oh and of course let the abuse rain on me too ! ;)

Good luck to you, always found drugs utterly pointless personally, so have never touched even as much as a spliff.

Dont judge though, as I love alcohol and have always drunk too much and will never give it up even if I'm told it will kill me, soni appreciate how hard you're probably finding it to give up.

You will have to replace your drug addiction with something more healthy. You can kick an addiction if you really want to, an addictive personality is something you take.to your death bed.

Maybe find something that you really enjoyed as a kid and haven't done for years.

Good luck.

barty.

My 1st Mrs and her Mum joined AA in 1985. Last i heard was 2 years ago and neither has touched the sauce so it can be done.

Good luck.

I had a huge drinking problem I used to drink to see how much I could drink and just soak it up, self destruct mode

What you will find is you are the same person when you are sober and as for socialising its all about company not drink

I wish you all the best mate be strong and be yourself

Re: Anyone on here who has experienced drug addiction recovery?
Mother died of cirrhosis few months ago. Was an Alcoholic all her life but would always deny it even when blatantly caught in the act. Would have died much younger if it wasn’t for her bad health and my dad locking up all alcohol.

Watching her deteriorate when her liver failed resulting in muscle weakness, after a few months was unable to swallow would be enough to put most off drink. Without going into details it is not a dignified end.

Having said that she lived the life she wanted. RIP Mum xx

Really?? You have never mentioned that before. Next you'll be telling us you don't like food and have no feelings about anything.
